File # 2019-738 and 2019-737

Thursday evening saw a man robbed of his vehicle at gunpoint as well as an attempted home invasion in Thornhill.

On Jan. 24, 2019 around 6:10 p.m., Terrace RCMP received a report of a vehicle theft and assault involving a weapon on Desjardines Avenue in Thornhill.

According to the report, a man was sitting in his truck near the tennis courts when he heard car doors, then observed a man standing next to his window with a firearm pointed at him. The man was subsequently assaulted and robbed before the gunman and another man took off in his truck. A white vehicle was observed in the area prior to the incident.

Around 6:05 p.m., an armed man tried to enter a residence nearby on Hagen Street.

It’s unknown at this time if the two occurrences are related.

Officers are working to get to the bottom of this and find those responsible, said Inspector Jayson Lucash. Terrace is a still a small, tight-knit community. Historically, this kind of activity, an armed robbery of a vehicle, is rare. We’re asking residents to be diligent in their neighbourhoods. If you see a vehicle that looks suspicious, if unusual activity starts creeping up, call police.

In the truck file, 19-738 suspect one is described as:

Suspect two:

The suspect in the attempted home invasion, file 19-737, is described as a white man, early to mid 20s, wearing a black Helly Hansen jacket, jeans, and ball cap.
